Primary Responsibilities:
Under the supervision of Technical Director Teacher Training, the Professional Development Manager will work closely with the program teams at central and provincial/regional level to make sure that professional development activities planned by the project for the improvement of teacher skills through high quality education, training, and continuous professional development. S/he will:
Material development for teacher training
·         Develop high quality interactive and participatory material (modules and manuals) for teacher professional development in close coordination with the material development teams and other fellow colleagues
·         Pilot the developed material in the field to ensure its practicality
·         Work closely with different stake holders including government counter parts and material review committees in developing, reviewing, improving and finalizing the material  
·         Oversee typing, designing, printing and distribution process of the material to schools
Teacher Professional Development
·         Support in planning, implementing, facilitating and evaluating sessions at national, provincial and district levels
·         Facilitate the sessions to prepare lead/master trainers for professional development of  mentors and teachers 
·         Provide technical support to the lead/master trainers during face to face training and monthly meetings of mentors and teachers
·         Oversee and support the school clustering process at district level
·         Work in close collaboration with the provincial/regional Technical Coordinators, Teacher Training Coordinators and District Program Managers to ensure efficiency and effectiveness of professional development activities
·         Hold regular meetings (face to face or using technology) with provincial/regional program teams  to ensure proper implementation of the activities at school level
·         Regularly visit provincial/regional, district offices and schools to monitor progress 
Others
·         Support in the preparation of work plans and reports (annual, mid-term, quarterly, monthly etc.) relating to the teacher professional development activities in consultation with the technical leads and other counterparts.
·         Work closely with the M&E team in the development of  tools for collection of data from the field
·         Support in the collection of data for process evaluation and
·         Manage and maintain archives of teacher professional development activities that include face-to-face trainings, follow-ups and roll out of TIG activities in line with the work plans and M&E framework
·         Analyze qualitative and quantitative information on teacher professional development activities to prepare for case studies/success stories and take remedial measures for any shortcomings
Required Qualifications, Experiences and Skills:
·         Minimum Master Degree in social sciences (teacher education, educational planning and management etc.) – a master degree in teacher education or higher will be preferred. 
·         At least 5 year of experience as facilitator/ teacher trainer preferably for primary schools in government sector
·         At least 3 years of experience as material developers particularly developing manuals, modules, and teacher guides for primary school teachers etc.
·         At least two year of experience as manager for a mass level teacher training project preferably focused on reading/literacy
·         Experience in designing, printing and distribution of material will be an added asset 
·         Experience with INGOs, USAID funded projects and Pakistan Reading Project will be preferred
·         Well versant with use of MS Word, Excel and outlook - experience in using Urdu/Sindhi/Pashto software will be a plus
·         Fluent in English and Urdu – Knowledge of Sindhi language will be preferred
Travel Requirements:
This project has extensive field travel and the candidate should be willing to travel across Pakistan especially to remote areas (at least 40% working time in the field).
